Design: Because a statement matters, its design
also matters, both in terms of clarity and
aesthetics. Like it or not, a statement is a
marketing document that represents
its creator. A bill that looks like it
was cobbled together by
the corner shopkeeper
may leave the wrong impression.
Psychoanalyst Services statements combine a simple, clear design with the flexibility to create a letterhead that expresses exactly what you want it to.
Choice: We offer two basic statement designs, a "simple" statement and a "line item" statement. Both convey exactly the same information, but in different ways. The simple statement boils things down to the simplest possible format, while the line item statement offers a more conventional statement design. (Click on the pages below to see full-size versions of each statement.)

Insurance: Our statement design pays special attention to the complexities of insurance. Most therapists prefer to include information on the status of any insurance claims on the statements of their insured patients. We offer two choices on how this insurance information is formatted, again either "simple" or "line item." In the examples below, the insurance information is outlined in red. The two examples below use the simple format for the primary billing information, but the line item format can also be used, giving you a choice of four statement formats. (Click on the pages below to see full-size versions of each statement.)

Note that our statement generation process automatically distinguishes between the rate charged to the patient (in this case $150 per session) and that charged to the insurer ($210 per session). In addition, sessions that were cancelled late (three sessions in the examples here) are billed to the patient, but are not and cannot be billed to the insurer.
Statements can also include information on insurer payments to either the therapist (which are typically deducted from the patient's balance due) or to the patient.
Finally, we offer a fifth kind of insurance statement for "out-of-network" patients who submit therapist bills directly to their insurers. These statements use the insurer session rate, but exclude patient balance information, which of course is irrelevant to the insurer. (Click on the page below to see a full-size version of the statement.)
